The rocket’s 11th test flight is just days away, and the company aims to launch it up to 25 times a year once fully operational. While this sounds like a leap forward for space exploration, local environmental groups argue it’s a step backward for wildlife and habitats. Increased launches, they warn, could disrupt the delicate ecosystem. Adding fuel to the fire, SpaceX is facing nearly $150,000 in fines from the EPA for allegedly dumping pollutants into a Texas waterway without a permit.
