After a triumphant victory in the UFC Rio main event, Charles Oliveira, also known as 'Do Bronx,' stayed true to his word and threw an unforgettable party for the children in his hometown of Guaruja, Brazil. This heartwarming gesture perfectly encapsulates the spirit of giving back, especially after a significant achievement.
Guilherme Cruz, a seasoned Brazilian journalist who has been covering combat sports since 2008, reported on this inspiring event.
Following his impressive win against Mateusz Gamrot, marking his 18th victory on Brazilian soil, Oliveira announced his intention to use his $50,000 bonus to bring joy to the local children. And he did just that!
Alongside his wife and parents, Oliveira organized a street party complete with toys, delicious food, and cake, all in celebration of Children’s Day, which is observed on October 12th in Brazil.
“In the street I was born and raised,” Oliveira shared in a video posted by his wife, highlighting his deep connection to the community. “There’s going to be a party for the kids. Guys, no big deal, cake and toys for the kids to have fun.”
His wife, Vitoria Brum, also expressed her gratitude, stating, “Every time Charles fights I make a promise, and this time I promised to throw a party for the kids — and that’s what we’re doing. Thank You for all the blessings and achievements. May God give us more so we can share with all of you.”
But here's where it gets controversial: While Oliveira's generosity is undeniable, some might argue about the best way to utilize such a large sum of money. Should it be spent on a one-time event, or would it be more impactful to invest in long-term community projects?
Oliveira's record in the UFC when fighting in his home country is an impressive 7-0. He is now setting his sights on a BMF title bout with Max Holloway in the lightweight division.
What do you think? Is Oliveira's act of kindness a perfect example of giving back, or could the money have been used in a different way to create a more lasting impact? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
